Set up Screen Blur

Draw blur or pixelated regions over your screen, adjust the intensity, and keep clicking underneath them. The portable app runs from its folder, with no installer or administrator access needed.

v0.4.1 · Windows 11 22H2 or later · x64

Portable ZIP. An internet connection and email registration are required the first time you open the app.

Extract the ZIP and open the app

Download ScreenBlur-0.4.1-win-x64.zip using the button above.

  1. Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All. Choose a folder where you want to keep Screen Blur.
  2. Open the extracted folder and double-click ScreenBlur.exe.
  3. Keep all the extracted files together, including the fonts, assets, and configuration file. Launch the app from this folder each time.

Screen Blur uses .NET Framework 4.8, included on supported Windows versions. Keep your graphics drivers up to date. This build is unsigned, so Windows may show a security warning. If Windows or your antivirus blocks it, leave protection enabled and report the message to Digital Alchemy.

Register your email once

Enter your email in the first-run window and choose Register Screen Blur. The app waits for Digital Alchemy to save it in the registration database before opening the blur controls. Keep your internet connection on until registration completes. If it fails, check the connection and try again.

Product updates are a separate, optional choice, unchecked by default. After registration, a signed receipt on your computer lets you open Screen Blur offline. Screen pixels stay on your computer. You do not need Docker, a database, or development tools.

Add a desktop shortcut

This step is optional. In the extracted folder, right-click Create Desktop Shortcut.ps1 and choose Run with PowerShell. Then use the Screen Blur shortcut on your desktop.

The shortcut points to this folder. If you move the folder, run the helper again from its new location. If PowerShell blocks the helper, you can still open ScreenBlur.exe directly.

Draw your first regions

  1. Choose Draw blur region. Drag a rectangle over an area you want to cover. Draw more rectangles as needed.
  2. Double-click when you finish. Your regions save, clicks pass through them, and the control panel returns.
  3. Adjust the intensity or choose pixelation in the control panel. Choose Edit regions when you want to move a region.
